Pricing
How pricing works on Print Swap
Each artist pays for their own outgoing print. Before you send or accept a swap, you will see the full price breakdown for your side of the exchange.
That price may include:
- print production
- shipping
- Print Swap service fee
- handling and logistics (where separately shown)
You are only charged if the swap is accepted.
What you pay for
When you take part in a swap, you pay for the production and delivery of your own outgoing print, not the other artist's.
Depending on the print and destination, the total may include:
- Print production — the cost of producing the print to the selected size and specification
- Shipping — the cost of dispatching that print to the other artist
- Print Swap fee — our fee for operating the platform, arranging the swap, collecting payment, and coordinating fulfilment
- Handling and logistics — where separately shown, this covers shipping administration and fulfilment coordination
The exact amount for your side of the swap is shown in the app before you confirm.
When you are charged
When you send a swap request, we place a pre-authorisation on your payment method. This is a temporary hold, not a completed charge.
If the other artist accepts the swap, that hold is converted into a charge and the other artist is charged for their side of the swap.
If the request is declined, cancelled before acceptance, or expires, the pre-authorisation is released.
Once a swap is accepted, it is generally binding and fulfilment begins automatically.
What affects the price
The cost of a swap can vary depending on:
- print size
- paper or finish options
- shipping destination
- applicable taxes
- updates to our pricing structure
The final amount for your side of the swap is always shown before you confirm.
Taxes and international charges
Where applicable taxes apply to your payment, they are included in the total shown at checkout in the app (you will not be asked to pay tax as a separate hidden step in that flow).
If you are receiving a print across borders, you may also be responsible for customs duties, import taxes, or local charges in your own jurisdiction. These are outside Print Swap's control.
Refunds and cancellations
A swap becomes binding once it is accepted. There is no general right to cancel after acceptance because you change your mind.
If something goes wrong — for example a duplicate payment, a technical error, a proven delivery failure, or a print quality issue — Print Swap may investigate and, where appropriate, coordinate a reprint, credit, or refund in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
For full details, see our Terms and Conditions in the app under Settings → Legal, or contact hello@print-swap.com.
Where to find the exact amount
You do not need to guess the price of a swap. Before you send or accept a request, the app shows the applicable price breakdown for your side of the exchange.
